Performance advantages of phenolic composite air ducts

phenolic Air duct insulation panelPhenolic resin is the earliest industrialized plastic product in the world. Phenolic foam is known as the “king of insulation”. It was used in the early days for strength conduction and thermal insulation of rocket heads. It has become the fastest growing variety of plastics in some countries. Phenolic foam material is characterized by good flame retardancy, low thermal conductivity, excellent sound absorption and long service life. Because of the above superior characteristics, phenolic foam materials have been widely used in various aspects, such as central air conditioning ducts, cold and hot transmission pipelines, clean workshops, shopping malls, light body fast loading rooms, cold stores, refrigerated trucks, aircraft, ships, hotels, entertainment boxes, and other places where fireproof, lightweight, heat preservation, sound insulation, clean and moisture-proof materials need to be used.
The phenolic foam board is compounded with aluminum foil to form a sandwich board, and then added with special flange fittings to form a phenolic composite air duct for central air-conditioning ventilation. The internal and external surfaces of phenol alcohol composite sandwich panels are coated aluminum foils, and the intermediate layer is phenolic foam material. Their comprehensive properties have been greatly improved, especially in mechanical properties, such as bending resistance, compression resistance, brittleness, and processing performance, which basically meet the use requirements of air conditioning ventilation pipes.
Performance advantages of phenolic composite air ducts
Traditional air supply ducts for central air conditioning typically use iron sheet or fiberglass as the inner layer, wrapped with insulation material, and wrapped with aluminum foil at the outer layer. This results in heavy weight, time-consuming construction and installation, poor appearance, low air tightness, and high energy consumption. Compared with traditional air ducts, phenolic composite air ducts have the following advantages:

1. Good insulation, which can greatly reduce the heat dissipation loss of air conditioning
The thermal conductivity of phenolic composite air ducts is 0.020-0.025W/(m.k), while the thermal conductivity of zinc steel and fiberglass air ducts is much higher. In addition, the unique connection method of phenolic composite air ducts ensures excellent airtightness of the ventilation system, which is close to 8 times that of plated steel plate air ducts. Data shows that the heat dissipation loss of galvanized collar duct is 15%, that of glass fiber reinforced plastic duct is 8%, and that of phenolic foam insulation material duct is less than 2% when conveying the same heat (cold) amount
2. Good soundproofing.
The interlayer of the phenolic aluminum foil composite air duct wall is a closed cell phenolic foam material plate with connected phases, which has good noise elimination performance. In the central air conditioning system, the noise generated by the air conditioning unit during operation ranges from 50-79B and is transmitted through the air supply duct to form indoor noise. The phenolic aluminum foil composite air duct itself is a very good tubular muffler, and there is no need to install noise reduction accessories such as noise reduction covers and elbows.
3. Lightweight, can reduce building load, and is easy to install
The weight of phenolic aluminum foil composite air duct is light, approximately 1.4kg/m ³, The unit weight of galvanized steel sheet air duct (0.8mm) and glass air duct (3mm thick) is divided into 7.08 kg/m ³- 20 kg/m ³, This can greatly reduce the load on the building and is extremely beneficial for the installation of air ducts. During installation, only one bracket needs to be installed every 4 meters to provide sufficient support. This greatly reduces the bearing capacity requirements for brackets, suspension components, etc., making transportation and installation very convenient.
